Back in the 鈥80s when Jane Carr (鈥88, Ph.D. 鈥00) practiced evacuating capsized canoes in the Biola swimming pool, she was a recreation and camp administration major who worked at Camp Sugar Pine during the summer.
Now, Carr is an associate professor of Christian education at Biola, where she specializes in leadership development, church administration and children鈥檚 ministry. On the side, she also works as a children鈥檚 pastor at Yorba Linda Friends Church, where she has served on staff for 24 years. She appreciates the impact leaders can make when they minister to children, she says.
鈥淚t鈥檚 kind of like pouring wet cement,鈥 she says. 鈥淵ou can mold it and shape it and you can leave lasting impressions that will last a lifetime.鈥
Carr also serves as the assistant women鈥檚 golf coach at Biola, despite the fact that she had no interest in golf up until eight years ago, when her golf-playing husband gave her a package of golf lessons for Christmas. She called it a selfish gift then, but she is thankful for it now.
鈥淚 got hooked from the moment I started taking lessons,鈥 she said.
Here鈥檚 your chance to get to know her.
